Maintainer activity

30 people did triage or write work on this repository in the last 12 months.

Counts unlabeled, assigned, unassigned, milestoned, demilestoned, locked, unlocked over the last 12 months. These are issue and pull request events that require triage or write permission. Commits and code review are not counted. labeled and renamed are excluded because GitHub issue forms record the issue author as the actor. Figures from October 18, 2026. This count is not comparable across projects: each project's automation decides which of these events a person emits. How this is counted.

How this project is maintained

About 11% of issues opened in the past year have never received a reply. 58% of open issues come from outside the core team, a mix of external reports and the maintainers' own roadmap. Work labelled "kind/bug" is answered fastest, typically in under an hour, while "issue/willfix" waits about 3 days. Only 56% of issues opened in the past year have been closed. Three people close 50% of everything that gets resolved.

Detailed Description

MeshKit is a shared microservices framework for Meshery components written in Go.

The project solves the problem of code duplication across Meshery's distributed architecture by providing a toolkit that allows microservices and individual architectural components to reuse and share common functionality. Rather than each component implementing its own utilities and patterns, MeshKit centralizes these capabilities so that multiple parts of the Meshery ecosystem can depend on a single, maintained codebase.

MeshKit is suited for teams building components within the Meshery ecosystem or similar cloud-native control-plane architectures where multiple microservices need consistent access to shared utilities. It is particularly valuable when you have several services that would otherwise duplicate common functionality. The project is positioned as infrastructure for the broader Meshery platform rather than as a standalone tool for end users.

The project maintains active community engagement through regular weekly meetings, a dedicated Slack channel, and a discussion forum. Development activity shows consistent attention to issues and pull requests from the community, with established contribution pathways including a help-wanted label for new contributors and a MeshMates program pairing experienced members with those learning the codebase.
