Detailed Description

REFramework is a mod loader, scripting platform, and VR support framework for RE Engine games.

The tool addresses the need for extensibility and enhanced experiences in RE Engine titles by injecting into the game process and providing a Lua scripting API alongside a plugin system. It works by extracting a single DLL file into the game folder for non-VR use, or the complete package for VR functionality, supporting both DirectX 11 and DirectX 12 implementations. The framework includes built-in mods for free camera, FOV adjustment, ultrawide aspect ratio fixes, and scene timescale control across all supported games, with additional game-specific features like motion controls and first-person perspective for certain titles. It also addresses known crashes and stuttering issues in specific games.

Developers and players modding RE Engine titles should choose this tool if they need a unified platform for scripting and mod distribution across multiple games in the engine family. The framework suits projects ranging from simple visual tweaks to complex gameplay modifications, with particular strength in VR support including generic 6DOF tracking and motion controls. Installation is straightforward for standard play, though VR setups require SteamVR or OpenXR support. The tool supports an extensive list of titles spanning the Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Street Fighter, Monster Hunter, and other RE Engine franchises, making it the primary modding infrastructure for this engine ecosystem.

Development shows consistent maintenance with nightly builds available alongside stable releases. The project incorporates contributions from multiple collaborators who have helped stress-test functionality and expand the scripting system. Active development continues to add support for newly released RE Engine titles and refine existing features across the supported game catalog.
