Detailed Description

Perses Community Mixins is a collection of Prometheus mixins and dashboards built for the Perses observability platform using the Perses Go SDK.

The project addresses the need for pre-built, reusable observability dashboards and alerting rules tailored to Perses. It provides modular dashboards for popular monitoring targets including Prometheus, Node Exporter, AlertManager, Thanos, Kubernetes components, etcd, Blackbox Exporter, Istio, Tempo, and OpenTelemetry Collector. Alongside these dashboards, the project maintains Prometheus Operator format recording rules and alerts. The dashboards are generated from Go code using the Perses SDK, allowing them to be rendered as YAML files for import into Perses instances. The tool also includes a library of reusable panels that serve as building blocks for custom dashboard creation.

Teams running Perses for observability should consider this project if they need ready-made dashboards for their monitoring infrastructure. It suits organizations already using or planning to adopt Perses, particularly those monitoring Kubernetes clusters, Prometheus itself, or components like Thanos and Istio. The project supports customization through CLI flags to override hardcoded job labels, accommodating different naming conventions across monitoring stacks. The dashboards are compatible with Perses version 0.54.0 and later.

The project maintains active development with regular updates to its dashboard collection. The codebase is written in Go and includes build tooling for rendering dashboards locally and in CI environments. The repository provides both native Perses format and Perses Operator format outputs, allowing flexibility in deployment approaches.
