Detailed Description

NetAlertX is a network visibility and asset intelligence platform that monitors devices, detects changes, and maintains awareness across distributed networks.

The tool addresses the challenge of maintaining visibility across segmented networks, remote sites, and VLANs by providing centralized asset discovery and continuous monitoring from a single interface. It uses multiple discovery methods including ARP scanning, DHCP lease imports, Pi-hole integration, SNMP router imports, and UniFi controller imports to build and maintain an inventory of connected devices. The platform tracks connection state changes, identifies unauthorized hardware and shadow IT, and detects IP address management drift, alerting users to deviations from expected network state.

NetAlertX suits homelabs, IT teams, managed service providers, and organizations managing distributed environments who need asset visibility without deploying a full network management system or SIEM. It is particularly valuable for compliance initiatives, operational workflow automation, and multi-site management. The tool supports notifications to over eighty services through Apprise integration as well as native publishers like Pushsafer, Pushover, and NTFY. It includes multi-site synchronization, reporting capabilities, and webhook support for automation. Home Assistant users can install it as an add-on through a dedicated repository.

The project shows active development with recent changes to its Docker deployment configuration requiring migration guidance for existing users. The codebase is maintained with comprehensive documentation covering installation, configuration, plugins, and troubleshooting. The tool provides multiple installation paths including Docker, direct deployment from source, and Home Assistant integration, indicating attention to accessibility across different deployment scenarios.
