Maintainer activity

5 people did triage or write work on this repository in the last 12 months.

Counts unlabeled, assigned, unassigned, milestoned, demilestoned, locked, unlocked over the last 12 months. These are issue and pull request events that require triage or write permission. Commits and code review are not counted. labeled and renamed are excluded because GitHub issue forms record the issue author as the actor. Figures from October 18, 2026. This count is not comparable across projects: each project's automation decides which of these events a person emits. How this is counted.

How this project is maintained

About 17% of issues opened in the past year have never received a reply. 95% of open issues come from outside the core team, so the backlog reflects real-world use rather than internal planning. Work labelled "bug" is answered fastest, typically in about 2 days, while "site:geoblocked" waits about 5 months. Almost all tracked open issues have seen activity in the last three months. 75% of issues opened in the past year have been closed, leaving a working backlog.

Detailed Description

EPG is a command-line utility for downloading Electronic Program Guide data for thousands of TV channels from hundreds of sources.

The tool solves the problem of aggregating TV schedule information from fragmented sources by providing a unified interface to fetch and consolidate EPG data into standard XML format. It works by allowing users to specify one or more supported sites, then downloading channel guides from those sources and optionally splitting the output by site or merging into a single file. The tool supports parallel downloading to speed up the process, customization through command-line options, and scheduled execution via cron expressions or task schedulers.

Developers maintaining IPTV applications, media center software, or TV guide services should consider this tool if they need to programmatically fetch EPG data from multiple providers. It suits projects that require regular guide updates and can work with custom channel lists defined in XML format. The tool can be run as a standalone command-line utility, deployed in Docker containers with automatic daily updates, or exposed via HTTP server for network access. Installation requires Node.js and Git, and the project maintains a list of supported sites in its documentation.

The project uses automated workflows to keep guide data current. Development activity shows consistent maintenance of the codebase and regular updates to the list of supported EPG sources. The tool is actively used in production environments and receives ongoing support for new source integrations and feature requests through its community channels.
