How this project is maintained

Around half of the issues opened in the past year never receive a reply. 84% of open issues come from outside the core team, so the backlog reflects real-world use rather than internal planning. Work labelled "bug" is answered fastest, typically in under an hour, while "v1.0" waits about 11 months. Only 4% of issues opened in the past year have been closed. Three people close 89% of everything that gets resolved.

Detailed Description

fuels-rs is a Rust SDK for the Fuel Network that enables developers to compile, deploy, and test smart contracts written in Sway, launch local Fuel nodes, craft and sign transactions, and generate type-safe Rust bindings for contract methods.

The SDK addresses the need for Rust developers to interact with the Fuel blockchain ecosystem. It provides a comprehensive toolkit spanning contract lifecycle management—from compilation through deployment to testing—alongside transaction crafting, signing, and script execution. The tool generates type-safe bindings automatically, reducing boilerplate and runtime errors when calling contract methods from Rust code.

Developers building on Fuel who work in Rust should consider this SDK as their primary integration point. It suits projects ranging from contract testing and local development through to production transaction signing. The tool is still in active development, with wallet integration and event querying features not yet implemented, so teams should verify that the current feature set matches their requirements before committing to it.

The project maintains a substantial adopter base, as evidenced by the fact that almost all open issues originate from outside users rather than the core team. First responses to issues and pull requests typically arrive within one to two weeks.
