How this project is maintained

Around half of the issues opened in the past year never receive a reply. 100% of open issues come from outside the core team, so the backlog reflects real-world use rather than internal planning. 61% of tracked open issues have had no activity in three months, so the open count overstates what is actively being worked. Only 8% of issues opened in the past year have been closed.

Detailed Description

Lemuroid is a multi-system emulator for Android that consolidates support for numerous classic gaming platforms into a single application.

The tool addresses the fragmentation of mobile emulation by providing a unified interface to play games from systems including the Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Nintendo, Game Boy, Nintendo 64, Nintendo DS, Sega Genesis, Sega Master System, PlayStation, and PlayStation Portable. It achieves this by building on LibRetro, a standardized emulation framework that abstracts the complexity of individual system emulation cores. This architecture allows the application to support multiple platforms without reimplementing emulation logic for each system.

Lemuroid suits developers and players who want a single application rather than managing separate emulators for different platforms. The project is written in Kotlin and targets the Android ecosystem, making it relevant for anyone building or maintaining Android applications that need emulation capabilities or for end users seeking a consolidated gaming experience on mobile devices.

The project shows active development with regular commits addressing bug fixes, feature additions, and maintenance across its codebase. Pull requests are reviewed and merged with attention to code quality. The maintainer engages with issue reports and user feedback, responding to problems and incorporating suggestions. Development activity spans multiple areas of the application including core emulation integration, user interface improvements, and platform-specific optimizations. The project maintains compatibility with evolving Android versions and LibRetro updates, indicating ongoing effort to keep the tool functional across changing mobile environments.
