How this project is maintained

Around half of the issues opened in the past year never receive a reply. 88% of open issues come from outside the core team, so the backlog reflects real-world use rather than internal planning. Work labelled "in progress" is answered fastest, typically in under an hour, while "feature request" waits about 3 days. Only 7% of issues opened in the past year have been closed. Three people close 98% of everything that gets resolved.

Detailed Description

RaspAP is a web-based wireless router configuration interface for Debian-based devices, particularly Raspberry Pi systems.

RaspAP solves the problem of setting up and managing a wireless access point on single-board computers by providing a web interface that abstracts away the complexity of configuring underlying networking services like hostapd and dnsmasq. The tool works by bundling these services with a responsive PHP-based control panel that allows users to manage wireless settings, DHCP configuration, and network options through a browser rather than command-line tools.

The project suits users who want to turn a Raspberry Pi or similar Debian device into a functional wireless router without deep networking knowledge. It is particularly valuable for those building IoT projects, portable networks, or custom networking setups. RaspAP provides multiple installation paths including custom OS images, a quick installer script, and Docker container support, making it accessible whether you prefer a pre-configured system or integration into an existing setup. The tool includes advanced features such as WireGuard, Tailscale, and OpenVPN support for VPN functionality, ad blocking capabilities, SSL certificate management, and a captive portal integration option. A mobile-responsive interface ensures configuration is possible from any device.

The project maintains active development with continuous integration testing in place. Community engagement is evident through multilingual translation support and active presence on social platforms including Discord and Reddit. The codebase receives regular updates and the maintainers actively document features and configuration options.
