Counts unlabeled, assigned, unassigned, milestoned, demilestoned, locked, unlocked over the last 12 months. These are issue and pull request events that require triage or write permission. Commits and code review are not counted. labeled and renamed are excluded because GitHub issue forms record the issue author as the actor. Figures from October 18, 2026. This count is not comparable across projects: each project's automation decides which of these events a person emits. How this is counted.

Detailed Description

Operator-controller is a Kubernetes operator that serves as the central component of Operator Lifecycle Manager v1, providing APIs and controllers for managing extensions on Kubernetes clusters.

The tool addresses the problem of packaging, distributing, and managing the lifecycle of Kubernetes extensions in a way that aligns with Kubernetes design principles and user expectations. It replaces the earlier OLM v0 with a redesigned approach centered on declarative GitOps concepts. The operator-controller works alongside other components like catalogd to enable cluster administrators to install and manage extensions through Kubernetes-native APIs, giving them fine-grained control over cluster architecture while maintaining security and predictability.

Adoption suits teams running Kubernetes clusters who need a declarative, GitOps-friendly way to manage operator extensions at scale. The tool is appropriate for environments where cluster administrators require ultimate control over extension installation and lifecycle management. It works best for organizations already familiar with Kubernetes patterns and seeking a modern alternative to earlier operator lifecycle management approaches.

The project maintains active development with regular updates to its documentation and API design. Work continues on experimental features such as the object-controller component for managing ClusterObjectSet resources independently. The team actively refines the API surface based on feedback, as indicated by notes in the quickstart documentation that certain procedures are likely to change with future updates.
