Stockfish is a free and strong UCI chess engine that analyzes chess positions and computes optimal moves.

The engine solves the problem of determining the best moves in chess by using a combination of search algorithms and neural network evaluation. It does not provide a graphical interface itself; instead, it operates as a UCI-compatible engine that external chess GUIs communicate with to display positions and accept move input. The tool uses a neural network stored in NNUE format for position evaluation alongside traditional search techniques.
