How this project is maintained

Around half of the issues opened in the past year never receive a reply. 99% of open issues come from outside the core team, so the backlog reflects real-world use rather than internal planning. 61% of tracked open issues have had no activity in three months, so the open count overstates what is actively being worked. Only 9% of issues opened in the past year have been closed. Three people close 68% of everything that gets resolved.

Detailed Description

Stability Matrix is a multi-platform package manager and inference UI for Stable Diffusion that streamlines installation, management, and use of multiple Stable Diffusion implementations.

The tool solves the complexity of managing different Stable Diffusion packages and their dependencies across Windows, macOS, and Linux. It provides one-click installation and updates for numerous packages including Automatic 1111, ComfyUI, Fooocus, InvokeAI, and others. The approach bundles embedded Git and Python dependencies so users need not install these globally, and keeps all data portable so installations can move between drives or computers. A built-in inference interface offers syntax highlighting, auto-completion, customizable dockable panels, and project files that preserve workspace state and metadata.

Stability Matrix suits users who work with multiple Stable Diffusion implementations or want to avoid manual dependency management. The tool centralizes checkpoint and model management across all installed packages, with a model browser that imports directly from CivitAI and HuggingFace, automatically placing files in the correct folders and fetching metadata. The launcher provides a syntax-highlighted terminal, configurable environment variables, and launch argument editors for each package install. This approach eliminates the friction of juggling separate installations and their individual configurations.

Development activity shows consistent engagement with regular updates and active maintenance. The project demonstrates responsiveness to user needs through ongoing feature additions and bug fixes. Community contributions are integrated into the codebase, indicating openness to external input. The tool maintains broad compatibility across multiple Stable Diffusion variants and continues expanding support for new packages and integrations.
