Maintainer activity

2 people did triage or write work on this repository in the last 12 months.

Counts unlabeled, assigned, unassigned, milestoned, demilestoned, locked, unlocked over the last 12 months. These are issue and pull request events that require triage or write permission. Commits and code review are not counted. labeled and renamed are excluded because GitHub issue forms record the issue author as the actor. Figures from October 18, 2026. This count is not comparable across projects: each project's automation decides which of these events a person emits. How this is counted.

How this project is maintained

84% of open issues come from outside the core team, so the backlog reflects real-world use rather than internal planning. Work labelled "check" is answered fastest, typically in about 8 days, while "enhancement" waits about 36 months. Three people close 96% of everything that gets resolved.

Detailed Description

Korge is a multiplatform game engine written in Kotlin that targets JVM, Web, Android, and iOS.

Korge addresses the challenge of building games that run across multiple platforms without rewriting code for each target. It achieves this through a unified Kotlin codebase that compiles to different backends: the JVM for desktop and Android, JavaScript and WebAssembly for web browsers, and native code for iOS. The engine includes hot reloading to see changes immediately during development, a live debugger, and integration with IntelliJ IDEA for a productive development experience. It has no external dependencies and relies only on libraries available on each platform, keeping the footprint small.

Korge suits developers who want to write games in Kotlin and deploy across multiple platforms from a single codebase. It works well for projects where you value rapid iteration and the ability to debug within a familiar IDE. The engine is particularly attractive if you already use Kotlin or prefer its modern syntax and safety features. Teams should be aware that the project recently underwent a namespace migration on Maven Central and updated to newer build tooling, so existing projects may require configuration changes when upgrading.

The project maintains active development with regular updates to support current platform versions and build tools. Development is coordinated through a Discord community and the team provides documentation and example projects to help new users get started quickly.
