Maintainer activity

15 people did triage or write work on this repository in the last 12 months.

Counts unlabeled, assigned, unassigned, milestoned, demilestoned, locked, unlocked over the last 12 months. These are issue and pull request events that require triage or write permission. Commits and code review are not counted. labeled and renamed are excluded because GitHub issue forms record the issue author as the actor. Figures from October 18, 2026. This count is not comparable across projects: each project's automation decides which of these events a person emits. How this is counted.

How this project is maintained

Roughly one issue in four opened in the past year never receives a reply. 84% of open issues come from outside the core team, so the backlog reflects real-world use rather than internal planning. Work labelled "content/missing-information" is answered fastest, typically in about 11 hours, while "content/incorrect-information" waits about 4 days. 77% of issues opened in the past year have been closed, leaving a working backlog. Three people close 75% of everything that gets resolved.

Detailed Description

Dapr docs is a documentation repository that builds the user-facing documentation website for Dapr, a cloud-native microservices runtime.

This repository contains the markdown source files that generate the Dapr documentation website. The docs are built using Hugo with the Docsy theme and hosted on Azure Static Web Apps. The repository uses a version-based branching strategy where each branch corresponds to a major and minor version of a Dapr runtime release, allowing documentation to track multiple active versions simultaneously. Contributors can run the documentation locally using either a devcontainer with VSCode or GitHub Codespaces, or by manually installing Hugo extended version and Node.js.

Anyone contributing to Dapr's documentation should use this repository. It suits teams maintaining documentation for versioned software releases, particularly those already using Hugo and wanting a structured approach to managing docs across multiple runtime versions. The devcontainer setup removes friction for contributors by pre-installing all dependencies and VSCode extensions, making it accessible to those unfamiliar with Hugo or the project's tooling.

The project maintains multiple active documentation branches aligned with Dapr runtime versions, with the primary branch receiving typo fixes and clarifications while pre-release branches handle version-specific documentation updates. Contribution guidelines are documented within the docs themselves, and the repository provides clear setup paths for both containerized and manual local development environments.
