7 people did triage or write work on this repository in the last 12 months.

Counts unlabeled, assigned, unassigned, milestoned, demilestoned, locked, unlocked over the last 12 months. These are issue and pull request events that require triage or write permission. Commits and code review are not counted. labeled and renamed are excluded because GitHub issue forms record the issue author as the actor. Figures from October 18, 2026. This count is not comparable across projects: each project's automation decides which of these events a person emits. How this is counted.

How this project is maintained

About 5% of issues opened in the past year have never received a reply. 83% of issues opened in the past year have been closed, leaving a working backlog. Three people close 100% of everything that gets resolved.

Detailed Description

Fugleramme is a real-time bird detection display system for Raspberry Pi that listens to garden audio, identifies bird species using local AI, and renders them as hand-cut 1800s bird illustrations on an e-ink panel.

The tool solves the problem of making bird detection accessible and visually engaging in a home setting. It works by polling BirdNET-Go, an audio classifier that runs locally on the same machine or elsewhere on the network, matching detected species to public-domain illustrations, then rendering only changed content to minimize e-ink refresh cycles. The system displays results both on a physical Inky Impression e-ink panel and as a web kiosk accessible from any device on the network.

Fugleramme suits hobbyists and birdwatchers who want a self-hosted, always-on display of garden bird activity without cloud dependencies. The e-ink panel is optional; the tool runs web-only if you prefer to display the kiosk on an HDMI monitor or access it remotely. If you already run BirdNET-Go elsewhere on your network, you can point the frame at that instance rather than running both on the same Raspberry Pi. The project includes an admin interface for configuring what species to display and managing automatic updates.

Development is in early stages with acknowledged bugs and unpolished edges. The project maintains a live demo running from the author's kitchen window in Bergen, Norway, showing actual bird detections. A continuous integration pipeline runs on commits to the main branch. Documentation covers hardware setup, installation, and operations separately from the core repository.
