Counts unlabeled, assigned, unassigned, milestoned, demilestoned, locked, unlocked over the last 12 months. These are issue and pull request events that require triage or write permission. Commits and code review are not counted. labeled and renamed are excluded because GitHub issue forms record the issue author as the actor. Figures from October 18, 2026. This count is not comparable across projects: each project's automation decides which of these events a person emits. How this is counted.

How this project is maintained

86% of open issues come from outside the core team, so the backlog reflects real-world use rather than internal planning. Three people close 92% of everything that gets resolved.

Detailed Description

ComputeSharp is a .NET library to run C# code in parallel on the GPU through DX12, D2D1, and dynamically generated HLSL compute and pixel shaders.

The library solves the problem of making GPU computing accessible to .NET developers by allowing them to write shaders directly in C# rather than requiring knowledge of HLSL. It handles the translation of C# code into HLSL compute and pixel shaders, manages GPU device access, allocates GPU buffers and textures, and orchestrates data movement between GPU and RAM. This approach eliminates the friction of learning a separate shader language while leveraging the performance benefits of GPU acceleration for parallel workloads.

ComputeSharp suits developers building Windows applications that need GPU acceleration for graphics effects, scientific simulations, audio visualizers, or image processing. The library is production-ready and particularly valuable for those already working in the .NET ecosystem who want to harness GPU power without context-switching to C++ or GLSL. It integrates with WinUI 3 and supports both compute shaders for general-purpose GPU computing and pixel shaders for graphics effects. The project is used by established applications including the Microsoft Store and Paint.NET, where it powers custom effects and graphics acceleration.

The project maintains active development with continuous integration workflows and regular package updates. Development activity shows consistent engagement with the codebase through ongoing refinement and feature additions.
