Detailed Description

Tile Generator is a suite of tools for developing, packaging, testing, and deploying services and add-ons to Pivotal Cloud Foundry.

The tool addresses the complexity of integrating third-party services into Cloud Foundry by providing templates and patterns derived from years of integration experience. Rather than requiring developers to master all the underlying tools involved, Tile Generator abstracts away much of that complexity, allowing you to define your service configuration and have the tool handle the packaging and deployment mechanics.

Tile Generator suits organizations building services for Cloud Foundry environments who want to reduce the learning curve and development time associated with tile creation. It is particularly valuable if your team lacks deep expertise in Cloud Foundry's tile format and deployment requirements. The tool handles the end-to-end workflow from development through testing to deployment, which means you can focus on your service logic rather than infrastructure packaging details.

The project maintains a continuous integration pipeline that verifies unit tests, successfully builds sample tiles, runs acceptance tests on generated tiles, deploys to current Cloud Foundry versions, and executes deployment tests. The team welcomes community contributions through GitHub issues and pull requests, with a preference that contributors file an issue first to discuss their intent. Development can be done in editable mode to test changes immediately, and the project provides local testing scripts with caching support to avoid repeated dependency downloads.
