Detailed Description

ipquality is a shell script that checks IP address quality and risk assessment across multiple data sources.

The tool addresses the need to evaluate IP reputation and characteristics by querying multiple specialized databases and services. It aggregates basic geolocation data from Maxmind, risk scoring from sources including IPinfo, ipregistry, ipapi, AbuseIPDB, IP2Location, IPQS, DB-IP, and Scamalytics, and performs connectivity checks against major email providers and streaming services. The script supports both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses and presents results in a formatted terminal display optimized for single-screen viewing across different terminal sizes.

The tool suits users who need quick IP reputation checks without leaving the command line. It works across numerous Linux distributions, macOS, and Windows via Docker. The script offers both an interactive mode for casual use and parameter-driven operation for automation and integration into larger workflows. Notable capabilities include detection of streaming service access (TikTok, Disney+, Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, Reddit, ChatGPT), email service connectivity testing across twelve providers, and checks against over four hundred IP blacklist databases. Output can be generated in ANSI-formatted text, JSON, or plain text, with options for privacy mode that disables online report generation and full IP address masking in reports.

Development shows consistent refinement of core functionality. The project has replaced HTTP requests with HTTPS for improved security, corrected JSON formatting inconsistencies, fixed logic errors in mail service detection and port checking, and expanded platform support to include additional Linux distributions and macOS. Recent updates have added streaming service detection capabilities, privacy-focused operation modes, and flexible output formats including file export options.
