Maintainer activity

9 people did triage or write work on this repository in the last 12 months.

At least 56% of operator's 9 maintainers work at Red Hat. 8 say where they work, and 5 of those are Red Hat.

Counts unlabeled, assigned, unassigned, milestoned, demilestoned, locked, unlocked over the last 12 months. These are issue and pull request events that require triage or write permission. Commits and code review are not counted. labeled and renamed are excluded because GitHub issue forms record the issue author as the actor. Figures from October 18, 2026. This count is not comparable across projects: each project's automation decides which of these events a person emits. How this is counted.

How this project is maintained

Around half of the issues opened in the past year never receive a reply. 67% of open issues come from outside the core team, a mix of external reports and the maintainers' own roadmap. Work labelled "kind/feature" is answered fastest, typically in about 3 days, while "area/roadmap" waits about 8 weeks. 60% of issues opened in the past year have been closed, leaving a working backlog. Three people close 65% of everything that gets resolved.

Detailed Description

Tektoncd Operator is a Kubernetes operator that automates installation, upgrade, and management of TektonCD projects including Pipelines, Dashboard, and Triggers across any Kubernetes cluster.

The operator solves the complexity of deploying and maintaining multiple TektonCD components by providing a declarative, Kubernetes-native approach. Rather than manually installing and coordinating separate TektonCD projects, users define the desired state through custom resources, and the operator handles the actual installation, updates, and lifecycle management automatically.

Teams running Kubernetes who want to adopt TektonCD for continuous integration and delivery should consider this operator as the primary installation path. It is particularly suited for environments where operators are already the standard deployment pattern and where managing multiple TektonCD components together is necessary. The operator simplifies the operational burden compared to manual kubectl-based installation of individual components.

The project maintains organized documentation including installation guides, development guides, and testing procedures. Contribution pathways are clearly defined with labeled issues for new contributors. The codebase includes deep-dive developer documentation alongside practical getting-started materials, indicating sustained attention to both onboarding and architectural clarity.
