Detailed Description

Magnetissimo is a self-hosted torrent indexer that searches multiple torrent sites simultaneously and maintains a local database of results.

The tool solves the problem of fragmented torrent searching by querying eight popular torrent sources at once when a user searches, indexing results as they arrive while displaying them live on the page. Subsequent searches for the same terms are answered from the local index. The approach treats the index as a growing record of user searches, with each query potentially adding new magnet links to the database. Results are automatically categorized using the standard Torznab category system, enabling compatibility with media server automation tools. The search engine handles real-world naming variations, matching fragments and alternate titles across different languages.

The tool suits self-hosted deployments on homelab servers, NAS devices, or single-board computers, with Docker images built for both amd64 and arm64 architectures. It works entirely without JavaScript for basic operations like searching, filtering, and sorting, though JavaScript enables live result streaming. The JSON API allows integration with Sonarr and Radarr for automated media management. Backup and migration are straightforward since all data lives in a single SQLite database. The project names eight specific torrent sources it indexes: YTS, Nyaa.si, Sukebei, TorrentDownloads, AudioBookBay, The Pirate Bay, EZTV, and OxTorrent.

The project maintains active development with regular commits to the master branch, offers both Docker and native Elixir release deployment options with straightforward upgrade paths, and provides clear documentation for configuration and operation across different hosting scenarios.
