Detailed Description

Project-template is a boilerplate repository structure for new Open Mainframe Project initiatives.

This template provides a standardized foundation for launching projects within the Open Mainframe Project ecosystem. It establishes consistent documentation patterns and community engagement infrastructure, allowing new projects to begin with established conventions for installation instructions, build processes, contribution guidelines, and governance frameworks rather than building these elements from scratch.

Projects adopting this template inherit a ready-made structure for community interaction, including predefined sections for mailing lists, Slack channels, and community forums. The template includes placeholders for governance documentation and contribution guidelines, enabling new projects to quickly establish clear processes for community participation and issue reporting. This approach suits organizations joining the Open Mainframe Project that want to maintain consistency with ecosystem standards while reducing setup overhead.

The repository functions as a static reference implementation with minimal active development. It serves primarily as a documentation and structural template rather than as software requiring ongoing maintenance or feature iteration.
