Detailed Description

RemoveMacAI is a command-line tool that disables Apple Intelligence on macOS and reclaims the disk space occupied by its downloaded models.

The tool addresses the problem that macOS no longer provides a single switch to turn off Apple Intelligence, and the feature's models persist on disk even after being disabled. RemoveMacAI turns off the features, removes the downloaded models, and prevents macOS from re-downloading them. All changes are fully reversible through a revert command. The tool works by configuring system settings through a macOS configuration profile that users must approve, then removing the model files from disk.

Developers and users concerned about privacy or disk space who want granular control over which Apple Intelligence features remain active should consider this tool. It suits anyone running the affected macOS version who wants to disable some or all Apple Intelligence features without a full system reinstall. The tool offers a --keep flag to selectively disable features while leaving others enabled, and provides a --dry-run mode to preview changes before applying them. A status command shows the current state and the disk space consumed by each feature's models.

The project is actively maintained with releases built and signed through GitHub Actions, including build provenance attestations for verification. The tool is distributed as a standalone binary requiring no installation, and the installation process includes SHA-256 checksum verification for security.
