Detailed Description

Monid is a unified routing layer for AI agent tools that aggregates access to over two thousand tools across dozens of providers through a single base URL and API key.

The tool solves the problem of fragmented tool integration for AI agents by providing a declarative connector framework where each provider and endpoint is described in a standardized format. Rather than agents needing custom code for each tool provider, Monid uses a generic execution model where connectors declare their request schema, response structure, and usage metering rules. Agents can discover available endpoints, inspect their capabilities and pricing, and invoke them through three simple verbs. Usage is metered per call according to each connector's declared model, settling charges against the actual response received rather than assumptions about success.

Monid suits projects where agents need flexible access to diverse external tools without maintaining provider-specific integrations. It is particularly valuable when cost control matters, since the discover verb lets agents compare pricing and latency across competing providers before making a call, and billing reflects actual results rather than attempted calls. The tool is designed to be extensible through pull requests: developers can add new providers by writing declarative connector definitions without needing to modify the core execution engine, making it accessible to coding agents themselves.

The project maintains active community engagement through Discord and social channels. Development follows a pull-request model for adding new connectors, with the framework designed to accept contributions from developers unfamiliar with the codebase. The connector-based architecture means new provider integrations do not require changes to core code, lowering the barrier for community contributions.
