Detailed Description

KubeVela Catalog is a collection of community-maintained addon packages that extend the capabilities of the KubeVela control plane.

The catalog addresses the need for reusable, shareable building blocks in application delivery and operations across hybrid and multi-cloud environments. Addons extend KubeVela by bundling Kubernetes CRDs, X-definitions, controllers, or other components that add new functionality to the platform. The catalog organizes addons into two maturity tiers: verified addons that have undergone extended testing for production use, and experimental addons containing newer features still undergoing validation. Both categories are automatically packaged and made available through registries that users can access via the vela command-line tool or the VelaUX web interface.

Developers should adopt this catalog if they are building on KubeVela and need to extend its functionality with community-vetted components. The verified addons tier suits production deployments where stability is required, while the experimental tier allows early access to emerging capabilities. The catalog works best for teams already committed to the KubeVela platform who want to leverage shared solutions rather than building custom extensions from scratch.

The project maintains a clear separation between stable and experimental offerings, with both automatically packaged and synchronized to accessible registries upon merge. Historical versions of all addons are preserved in the OSS bucket for reference and rollback purposes. The project provides scaffolding tools and documentation to help community members contribute new addons by following existing examples in the repository.
