Maintainer activity

31 people did triage or write work on this repository in the last 12 months.

Counts unlabeled, assigned, unassigned, milestoned, demilestoned, locked, unlocked over the last 12 months. These are issue and pull request events that require triage or write permission. Commits and code review are not counted. labeled and renamed are excluded because GitHub issue forms record the issue author as the actor. Figures from October 7, 2026. This count is not comparable across projects: each project's automation decides which of these events a person emits.

How this project is maintained

About 16% of issues opened in the past year have never received a reply. 85% of open issues come from outside the core team, so the backlog reflects real-world use rather than internal planning. 46% of tracked open issues have had no activity in three months. 68% of issues opened in the past year have been closed, leaving a working backlog. Detailed Description

Kro is a Kubernetes operator that simplifies the creation and management of complex custom resources by allowing you to define reusable groupings of Kubernetes resources.

Kro addresses the challenge of managing intricate multi-resource constructs in Kubernetes by introducing the ResourceGraphDefinition custom resource. This resource lets you declare collections of Kubernetes resources—both native and custom—along with their dependencies and default configurations. When you apply a ResourceGraphDefinition to a cluster, the kro controller validates it, dynamically generates a new CRD, and registers it with the API server. The controller then creates a dedicated microcontroller for each instance, which handles the dependency ordering, resource creation, and lifecycle management of all underlying resources automatically.

Kro is well-suited for teams building complex applications that require coordinating multiple Kubernetes resources with interdependencies. It works best when you want to encapsulate these patterns as reusable components that can be instantiated multiple times without manually managing each resource. The tool integrates with existing Kubernetes workflows and tooling, preserving familiar processes rather than introducing vendor-specific abstractions.

The project maintains active development with regular updates to its core functionality and documentation. The maintainers provide comprehensive guides covering installation, getting started workflows, and conceptual foundations. The project accepts community contributions and maintains clear documentation of how to participate.
