Detailed Description

jQuery Color is a jQuery plugin for color manipulation and animation support.

The plugin solves the problem of animating color values in CSS properties, which jQuery's standard `.animate()` method does not natively support. It works by installing a cssHook that extends jQuery's animation system to handle color transitions. The tool provides a Color factory function that creates color objects accepting multiple input formats, and these objects can be manipulated through getter and setter methods for individual color channels. The plugin supports animating standard CSS color properties including backgroundColor, borderColor variants, color, outlineColor, and several text decoration colors. Additional properties can be registered for color animation using the `jQuery.Color.hook()` function.

Developers should choose this plugin if they need to animate colors in jQuery-based projects targeting modern browsers. It suits applications that rely on jQuery and require smooth color transitions as part of their UI interactions. The plugin works with jQuery versions 1.12 and above, and the current version supports modern releases of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari. An older version branch maintains support for earlier browser environments if needed.

The project maintains active development with regular updates to support current browser versions and jQuery releases. The tool includes comprehensive test coverage and provides multiple distribution options through official release channels. Documentation covers both basic animation use cases and advanced scenarios such as partial color transitions where only specific channels are animated.
