Detailed Description

Hexo-theme-butterfly is a theme for Hexo, a static site generator, that provides a modern and feature-rich design for blogging platforms.

The theme addresses the need for an elegant, responsive blogging interface by implementing a card-based layout with customizable design options including rounded or square borders. It supports both light and dark modes and adapts seamlessly across all screen sizes through a two-column layout optimized for reading. The theme integrates multiple content enhancement features such as table of contents navigation, word count and reading time estimates, related article recommendations, and syntax highlighting with multiple color schemes for code blocks.

Butterfly suits developers and bloggers who want a polished, modern appearance without extensive customization work. It works well for content-focused sites that benefit from its reading mode, outdated content reminders, and smart article recommendations. The theme supports multiple search backends including Algolia, local search, and Docsearch, along with numerous comment systems such as Disqus, Gitalk, Valine, Waline, Twikoo, and Giscus. It also provides dual comment system support for those wanting multiple options simultaneously. The theme includes built-in 404 pages, pjax support for smooth page transitions, and live chat integrations through services like Chatra, Tidio, and Crisp. Language switching between Traditional and Simplified Chinese is available, and it supports mathematical formula rendering through Mathjax and Katex.

The project maintains both master and development branches with active version tracking. Documentation is provided in both English and Chinese. Installation is available through git or npm, with npm support requiring Hexo 5.0.0 or later. The theme requires pug and stylus renderers to be installed as dependencies.
