Counts unlabeled, assigned, unassigned, milestoned, demilestoned, locked, unlocked over the last 12 months. These are issue and pull request events that require triage or write permission. Commits and code review are not counted. labeled and renamed are excluded because GitHub issue forms record the issue author as the actor. Figures from October 7, 2026. This count is not comparable across projects: each project's automation decides which of these events a person emits.

How this project is maintained

89% of open issues come from outside the core team, so the backlog reflects real-world use rather than internal planning. Work labelled "bug" is answered fastest, typically in about 2 days, while "question" waits about 2 weeks. Three people close 67% of everything that gets resolved.

Detailed Description

django-redis is a Redis cache and session backend for Django.

The tool solves the problem of integrating Redis as a caching layer in Django applications. It provides a full-featured cache backend that replaces Django's default in-memory cache, allowing applications to share cache state across multiple processes and servers. The implementation uses redis-py for the underlying connection and supports multiple connection schemes including standard TCP sockets, SSL-wrapped connections, and Unix domain sockets. Connection configuration is handled through standard Redis URL notation, with support for authentication via usernames and passwords specified either in the connection string or in configuration options.

django-redis suits projects that need distributed caching, session storage across multiple application instances, or persistent cache state. It works with Django's standard cache framework, making it a drop-in replacement for the default cache backend. The tool supports Redis ACLs for fine-grained access control and allows customization of the underlying Redis client, which is useful for testing scenarios.

The project maintains active continuous integration with automated testing on code changes. Test coverage is tracked and reported. The codebase is organized under the Jazzband collaborative project structure, which provides governance and contribution guidelines for ongoing maintenance.
