How this project is maintained

Around half of the issues opened in the past year never receive a reply. 100% of open issues come from outside the core team, so the backlog reflects real-world use rather than internal planning. Work labelled "waiting for users to reply | 等待用户回复" is answered fastest, typically in about 2 days, while "Join the plan | 加入计划" waits about 3 weeks. 90% of tracked open issues have had no activity in three months, so the open count overstates what is actively being worked. Only 2% of issues opened in the past year have been closed.

Detailed Description

Sun-Panel is a self-hosted navigation and homepage dashboard designed for servers, NAS devices, and browser startpages.

The tool addresses the need for a centralized access point to services and system information in homelab and self-hosted environments. It provides a visual interface for organizing links and monitoring system status without requiring external database connections. The dashboard supports both internal and external network access modes, allowing users to switch between them with a single click. The interface is built with Vue and backed by a Golang server, enabling lightweight deployment even on resource-constrained hardware like Raspberry Pi systems.

Sun-Panel suits users managing multiple services across home servers or NAS devices who want a clean, customizable entry point. It works well for those preferring visual configuration over code-based setup, as it emphasizes zero-code usage and drag-and-drop organization. The tool supports Docker deployment across ARM and standard architectures, making it compatible with Synology NAS and similar platforms. Multi-account isolation allows different users to maintain separate views. Customization options include support for custom JavaScript and CSS, access to the Iconify icon library for visual styling, and the ability to embed small windows within the dashboard for quick access to third-party services.

The project has entered a partially closed-source state to support the maintainer's livelihood, with premium features separated into a PRO tier. The latest open-source release remains available and functional for standard use cases. Development activity shows ongoing maintenance of the codebase with Docker and deployment documentation provided. The maintainer has established communication channels and community engagement through donation options and a public blog presence.
