BilibiliSponsorBlock is a browser extension that automatically detects and skips sponsored segments and other unwanted content in Bilibili videos.
The tool addresses the problem of interruptions from sponsorships, soft advertisements, and other non-content segments embedded in videos. It works by fetching crowdsourced segment annotations and automatically skipping them during playback. Beyond sponsored content, it can skip opening and closing animations, call-to-action prompts, and jump directly to video thumbnails. All segment markings come from community contributions, and users can submit their own annotations to expand the database.
The extension is available for Chrome, Firefox, and Chromium-based browsers through their respective extension stores, with manual installation from GitHub releases also supported. A Safari version can be built from source using the provided build script. Developers familiar with SponsorBlock will recognize the interface and core functionality, as this project is ported from that extension while adding Bilibili-specific features. The tool dropped multilingual support in favor of simplified and traditional Chinese only.
Development is maintained on a part-time basis by an individual maintainer. The project accepts community contributions through segment submissions and maintains a leaderboard tracking contributor activity. Support options are available for those wishing to fund ongoing development.
