How this project is maintained

Around half of the issues opened in the past year never receive a reply. 92% of open issues come from outside the core team, so the backlog reflects real-world use rather than internal planning. Work labelled "priority: high" is answered fastest, typically in about 8 hours, while "native-app" waits about 3 days. 62% of tracked open issues have had no activity in three months, so the open count overstates what is actively being worked. Only 4% of issues opened in the past year have been closed.

Detailed Description

Floccus is a browser extension that syncs your bookmarks privately across browsers and devices.

The tool addresses the problem of keeping bookmarks synchronized across multiple browsers and devices without relying on proprietary cloud services. It syncs native browser bookmarks directly by connecting to a backend storage service of your choice. Supported backends include Nextcloud Bookmarks, Linkwarden, KaraKeep, Google Drive, Dropbox, any Git server, or WebDAV-compatible services. You can create multiple sync profiles, each with configurable sync strategies (unidirectional or bidirectional), sync intervals, and folder selection. The tool also supports exporting your configuration for backup or migration purposes.

Floccus suits developers and privacy-conscious users who want bookmark synchronization without depending on browser vendors' cloud infrastructure. It works across Firefox, Chrome, Edge, Opera, Brave, and Vivaldi. If you need mobile access, a companion Android and iOS app is available, though most mobile browsers do not natively support the extension. Choose this tool if you already run or have access to a self-hosted service like Nextcloud, or if you prefer to store bookmarks in existing cloud storage you control. The README does not compare it to other bookmark sync solutions.

The project maintains active community support channels including a Matrix chat room and Reddit community. Development activity shows ongoing maintenance with documented troubleshooting guidance, such as handling emoji support issues in MySQL and MariaDB backends when syncing to Nextcloud. The maintainers provide multiple donation options and actively engage with users seeking help through various communication platforms.
