Detailed Description

jetcd is a Java client library for etcd v3 that enables Java applications to interact with etcd distributed key-value stores.

The library solves the problem of accessing etcd from Java applications by providing a native client implementation for the etcd v3 API. It handles the complexity of communicating with etcd clusters, including support for SSL-secured connections, and abstracts away the underlying protocol details so developers can work with etcd through familiar Java interfaces.

Java applications that need to integrate with etcd should consider jetcd if they require a straightforward way to perform key-value operations against an etcd cluster. The project is particularly useful for applications running on Java 11 or later that want to avoid external process calls or language bindings. The library includes a test launcher utility built on Testcontainers, which allows developers to programmatically start and stop isolated etcd servers for integration testing without manual setup.

The project is in active development with a stated commitment to semantic versioning, though the current major version remains zero, indicating that backward compatibility is not guaranteed and the public API should not be considered stable. The codebase is tested against three-node etcd setups using the provided launcher utility, and the project maintains documentation for SSL configuration and references the official etcd v3 API documentation for comprehensive feature coverage. A standalone example project called jetcd-ctl demonstrates practical usage patterns.
