Detailed Description

MRI Viewer is a high-performance web tool for advanced 2D and 3D visualization of medical volumetric data.

The tool addresses the need to view medical imaging results across different environments and devices without specialized software. It reads DICOM, NIfTI, KTX, and HDR file formats from both local files and remote web locations. For 3D rendering, the project uses Three.js as a WebGL gateway and implements a workaround for the absence of native 3D texture support by constructing 2D textures from 3D data as large tile maps.

Medical centers, diagnostic facilities, and research institutes should consider this tool for viewing scanning results across computers, enabling remote diagnosis and consultation. It functions as a standalone HTML5 web application suitable for integration into larger medical platforms or client databases. The viewer supports WebGL-enabled desktop browsers including Chrome, Firefox, and Opera, with limited mobile support on Android Chrome. Safari support is planned but not yet available.

Development activity shows consistent engagement with the codebase through regular commits addressing both features and maintenance. The project maintains a monorepo structure organizing multiple sub-projects, indicating active architectural management. Pull requests are reviewed and merged regularly, demonstrating ongoing quality control. Issue tracking reflects responsiveness to user-reported problems and feature requests.
