Detailed Description

Cerberus is a collection of responsive HTML email templates and patterns designed to work reliably across email clients including Outlook and Gmail.

Building responsive emails that render consistently across diverse email clients presents a unique challenge because email clients have limited CSS support and inconsistent handling of media queries. Cerberus solves this by providing annotated, compartmentalized code blocks that implement proven patterns for responsive email design. The patterns can be used, combined, and nested to construct emails that adapt to different screen sizes and work in clients with varying levels of modern CSS support.

The project offers three template approaches suited to different needs. The fluid template works well for simple layouts like transactional emails and single-column designs. The responsive template handles more complex, multi-column layouts that reshape for mobile on clients with media query support. The hybrid template uses a different technique to reconfigure layouts across screen sizes without relying on media queries, making it suitable for email clients that lack that support. Developers building newsletters, transactional emails, or marketing campaigns who need reliable rendering across Gmail, Outlook, and other major clients should consider these patterns as a starting point rather than building from scratch.

The project maintains a stable collection of templates with good email client support documented for each pattern. Updates appear to focus on refining existing patterns and ensuring continued compatibility with evolving email client capabilities rather than pursuing rapid feature expansion.
