Foobox is a skin configuration for the foobar2000 media player's default user interface that provides a modern aesthetic while maintaining smooth performance.
The project addresses the need for a polished, feature-rich interface for foobar2000 by building on the jsplitter component to create a cohesive visual design. It integrates several third-party components including a spectrum analyzer, lyrics display, and playlist management tools, while also incorporating and adapting code from various community contributors to provide functionality like cover browsing, biography panels, and search capabilities.
Foobox is designed specifically for the Chinese-localized version of foobar2000 and requires Windows 10 or later with foobar2000 v1.5 or higher for 32-bit installations, or v2.0 or higher for 64-bit installations. The installation is portable and includes the theme and required components without bundling foobar2000 itself. Users can switch between different layout combinations through the quick settings menu. An optional video panel is available as a separate download, though video playback through foobar2000 is not recommended.
The project maintains active development with regular updates to its releases. The codebase shows ongoing refinement of its interface components and integration of community-contributed code. The maintainer actively manages the project across multiple platforms and responds to user needs through layout options and optional feature additions.
