Maintainer activity

1 person did triage or write work on this repository in the last 12 months.

Counts unlabeled, assigned, unassigned, milestoned, demilestoned, locked, unlocked over the last 12 months. These are issue and pull request events that require triage or write permission. Commits and code review are not counted. labeled and renamed are excluded because GitHub issue forms record the issue author as the actor. Figures from October 7, 2026. This count is not comparable across projects: each project's automation decides which of these events a person emits.

How this project is maintained

About 3% of issues opened in the past year have never received a reply. 92% of issues opened in the past year have since been closed. Three people close 94% of everything that gets resolved.

Detailed Description

Velxio is a browser-based emulator for Arduino, ESP32, and Raspberry Pi boards that lets you write, compile, and run embedded code without physical hardware.

The tool addresses the barrier to embedded systems learning and prototyping by eliminating the need for actual boards. It runs real CPU emulation in the browser, supporting multiple instruction set architectures including AVR8, ARM Cortex-M, Xtensa, RISC-V, and ARM Cortex-A. You can write code in Arduino C++, MicroPython, ESP-IDF, or Python, then compile and execute it against over 150 interactive electronic components that simulate real circuit behavior. All computation happens locally in your browser with no cloud dependency.

Velxio suits developers learning embedded systems, educators teaching microcontroller concepts, and makers prototyping ideas before committing to hardware purchases. The breadth of supported boards—spanning Arduino Uno through Raspberry Pi 5—makes it useful across different project scales and complexity levels. It works best for projects that fit within the scope of the emulated components and CPU families; projects requiring specialized hardware or real-time performance constraints may still need physical boards.

The project shows active development with regular updates to board support and component libraries. The maintainer actively solicits community feedback and maintains a public Discord channel for user engagement. The codebase is written in TypeScript and distributed as both a web application and Docker container, indicating attention to deployment flexibility. Commercial licensing is available alongside the open-source AGPL offering, suggesting the project is structured for both community and commercial use cases.
