Detailed Description

crossplane-runtime is a set of Go libraries for writing Kubernetes controllers in Crossplane.

The project provides foundational abstractions and utilities that controller developers need when building Crossplane stacks. Rather than requiring each controller to implement common patterns from scratch, crossplane-runtime encapsulates reconciliation logic, resource management, and Kubernetes integration concerns into reusable libraries. Developers building controllers can depend on these libraries to handle the boilerplate and infrastructure work, focusing instead on stack-specific logic.

Teams building Crossplane stacks or related controllers should adopt this library to avoid duplicating controller infrastructure code. It suits any project extending Crossplane's capabilities through custom controllers. The project is positioned as the standard foundation for the Crossplane ecosystem, with its governance and ownership structure aligned to the core Crossplane project.

The project maintains active community engagement through multiple channels including Slack, forums, and email. Development follows the same governance structure as core Crossplane, with a defined ownership model. The roadmap is tracked alongside the main Crossplane project's milestones, indicating coordinated planning between the runtime library and the broader platform.
