Maintainer activity

2 people did triage or write work on this repository in the last 12 months.

Counts unlabeled, assigned, unassigned, milestoned, demilestoned, locked, unlocked over the last 12 months. These are issue and pull request events that require triage or write permission. Commits and code review are not counted. labeled and renamed are excluded because GitHub issue forms record the issue author as the actor. Figures from October 18, 2026. This count is not comparable across projects: each project's automation decides which of these events a person emits. How this is counted.

How this project is maintained

Roughly one issue in five opened in the past year never receives a reply. 88% of open issues come from outside the core team, so the backlog reflects real-world use rather than internal planning. Work labelled "internal" is answered fastest, typically in under an hour, while "side bar" waits about 2 days. 74% of issues opened in the past year have been closed, leaving a working backlog. Three people close 83% of everything that gets resolved.

Detailed Description

Project Manager is a Visual Studio Code extension that helps you organize and quickly access your projects from a centralized interface.

The extension solves the problem of managing multiple projects scattered across different locations on your filesystem. It allows you to manually save folders or workspaces as projects, or automatically detect repositories managed by Git, Mercurial, or SVN, as well as VSCode folders and arbitrary directories. Once saved or detected, projects appear in a dedicated side bar and can be opened in the current window or a new one. The tool also provides tag-based organization, allowing you to filter and group projects by custom tags.

Project Manager suits developers who work with many projects and want to avoid repeatedly navigating the filesystem or maintaining mental maps of project locations. It works well for teams or individuals managing multiple repositories or workspace folders. The extension integrates directly into VSCode's interface through commands, a status bar indicator showing the current project, and a side bar view, making project switching a quick operation.

The project maintains steady development with regular feature refinements. Recent work has focused on improving tag support and auto-detection capabilities. The tool has been published to Open VSX in addition to the standard VSCode marketplace, expanding its availability. Support for VSCode profiles and virtual workspaces has been added, along with workspace trust integration. The extension includes a getting started walkthrough to help new users understand its capabilities. The project returned to fully open source development, making its codebase transparent to users and contributors.
