Detailed Description

BotSharp is an AI multi-agent framework in C# that enables developers to build conversational AI applications integrated with existing business systems.

The framework addresses the challenge of connecting large language models to enterprise applications while maintaining control over the AI processing pipeline. It uses a plugin and pipeline architecture to decouple components, allowing developers to swap LLM providers, UI implementations, and other modules without rewriting core logic. The tool abstracts agent management for complex scenarios, handles multi-agent coordination with state management, and provides built-in support for retrieval-augmented generation with vector-based memory searching.

BotSharp suits .NET developers building enterprise chatbot platforms who want to avoid vendor lock-in and need fine-grained control over agent behavior. The C# implementation targets corporate developers working in information management systems where typed languages simplify refactoring at scale. The framework supports multiple LLM providers including ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and others, and includes a built-in web UI for building, testing, and auditing agents. It offers REST APIs and WebSocket communication for real-time interactions, integrates with messaging channels like Slack and Telegram, and provides Model Context Protocol support for tool integration.

The project shows consistent development activity with regular updates to core agent abstractions and LLM provider integrations. The codebase maintains a modular plugin system that continues to expand with new capabilities. Documentation is actively maintained alongside the framework itself. The team regularly adds support for emerging LLM models and refines the agent orchestration layer based on enterprise use cases.
