Counts unlabeled, assigned, unassigned, milestoned, demilestoned, locked, unlocked over the last 12 months. These are issue and pull request events that require triage or write permission. Commits and code review are not counted. labeled and renamed are excluded because GitHub issue forms record the issue author as the actor. Figures from October 11, 2026. This count is not comparable across projects: each project's automation decides which of these events a person emits. How this is counted.

How this project is maintained

100% of open issues come from outside the core team, so the backlog reflects real-world use rather than internal planning. Work labelled "no defect" is answered fastest, typically in about 2 days, while "enhancement" waits about 3 weeks. Three people close 84% of everything that gets resolved.

Detailed Description

ABAP Cleaner is a configurable formatter that automates the application of cleanup rules to ABAP code through a keystroke command.

The tool addresses the gap between published clean code guidelines and the manual effort required to implement them. Rather than leaving developers to manually refactor code according to style rules, ABAP Cleaner applies over 100 cleanup rules automatically to any selection of code, from single statements to entire documents. The rules cover formatting, alignment, replacement of obsolete commands, and reduction of nesting depth. The tool processes approximately 500 KB of code per second, freeing developers from tedious formatting work so they can focus on more complex concerns like modularization, testability, and naming.

Teams adopting ABAP Cleaner should understand that it handles a significant but bounded subset of clean code requirements. The tool comes with two built-in profiles: a default profile that activates most rules aligned with the Clean ABAP Styleguide and goes beyond its demands, and an essential profile that activates only the rules explicitly required by that styleguide. Teams can create custom profiles to select which rules apply and configure options and thresholds for each, enabling alignment on a shared configuration that can be distributed across the team.

The project maintains active development with regular updates to its rule set and configuration options. The codebase shows consistent refinement of existing functionality rather than major architectural shifts. The tool integrates with ABAP Development Tools, indicating ongoing attention to the practical workflow needs of its users.
