Detailed Description

Minegrub is a Grub theme that styles the bootloader menu in the aesthetic of Minecraft's main menu interface.

The theme addresses the desire to customize the Grub bootloader with a visually distinctive appearance. It applies Minecraft's iconic visual style to the boot menu, allowing users to replace the default Grub interface with themed graphics, fonts, and layout that evoke the game's main menu. The installation can be performed either through an interactive script or manually by cloning the repository, optionally selecting background images, and updating Grub configuration files. The project includes a systemd service for auto-updating splash text, backgrounds, and package displays after each boot.

Minegrub suits users running Linux systems with Grub2 who want a themed bootloader and appreciate Minecraft aesthetics. The project works on systems with standard Grub installations, though users with Secure Boot enabled may encounter font rendering issues that require disabling Secure Boot in BIOS. The theme requires manual resolution configuration to display correctly on different screen sizes. The README references companion projects that extend the Minecraft theme to other parts of the boot sequence, including a world selection menu theme and a combined theme for using both together, as well as related Minecraft themes for SDDM, Plymouth, and KDE Splash screens.

Development activity shows consistent maintenance with fixes addressing common issues such as theme visibility problems, font sizing under Secure Boot, and display scaling across different resolutions. The project accepts community contributions including translations to other languages. The codebase is written primarily in Python and remains actively documented with troubleshooting guidance for typical installation problems.
