Detailed Description

Sddm-astronaut-theme is a series of modern login screen themes for SDDM, the display manager.

The project addresses the need for visually appealing and customizable login screens on Linux systems. It provides multiple pre-made themes that users can select from or modify. The themes are built with Qt6 and include virtual keyboard support and an installation script. A distinctive feature is support for animated wallpapers. Customization is straightforward—each theme is created by modifying a single configuration file, allowing users to adjust appearance without deep technical knowledge. The themes were designed for 1080p resolution but are intended to scale to other screen sizes.

The tool suits users who want to personalize their login experience without extensive configuration work. It works well for those running SDDM on Linux systems and who appreciate pre-designed aesthetic options. The project provides an automatic installation script compatible with distributions using pacman, xbps-install, dnf, or zypper, as well as manual installation instructions. A community-maintained package is available for NixOS users.

Development activity shows consistent engagement with the project through visual documentation and theme additions. The maintainer actively accepts community contributions, as evidenced by community-maintained packages for alternative distributions. The project maintains organized documentation with detailed previews of all available themes and their variations.
