Detailed Description

DeepSeek Harness NAS is a native NAS application package that brings the DeepSeek AI agent framework to Synology DSM and fnOS systems without requiring Docker.

The tool solves the problem of running DeepSeek Harness directly on NAS hardware by providing platform-specific packages in SPK format for Synology and FPK format for fnOS. Rather than containerizing the framework, it packages DeepSeek Harness as a native NAS application that integrates with each platform's package management and web interface. The implementation includes a built-in reverse proxy that maps external ports to internal ones, network-level security that restricts access to private IP ranges and returns a localized error page for public internet requests, and token-based authentication that enables passwordless login when accessed through the NAS web portal.

Developers running Synology or fnOS NAS systems who want to self-host an AI agent framework should consider this tool if they prefer native installation over Docker containers. The project suits users who need multi-model support with custom OpenAI-compatible endpoints and want centralized management through a web UI. The approach differs from generic Docker deployments by providing tight integration with NAS platform features, including automatic token hiding in URLs, request logging for debugging, and a safety mode that disables user plugins if the core service fails to start.

The project automatically fetches the latest upstream DeepSeek Harness release during builds, so package versions track the official framework's development. Build infrastructure is split across separate scripts for common precompilation and platform-specific packaging, with GitHub Actions handling automated builds on tag pushes to produce both SPK and FPK artifacts simultaneously. Local build scripts remain available for development and manual fallback scenarios.
