Detailed Description

Learning SICP is a Chinese localization and educational resource collection project for the MIT open course "Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs."

The project addresses the language barrier for Scheme and Lisp learners by translating English subtitles from the original 1986 video lectures by Harold Abelson and Gerald Jay Sussman into Chinese. The course videos themselves are available through MIT's OpenCourseWare, but this project provides the translated subtitle materials to make the content accessible to Chinese-speaking students.

The project is suited for anyone learning Scheme or Lisp who prefers Chinese-language instruction. Beyond subtitle translation, it curates supplementary learning materials including the SICP textbook in multiple formats, Scheme tutorials and environment setup guides, and links to advanced resources on programming language theory and research. The collection spans foundational materials for beginners through to specialized academic resources, making it useful both for self-study and as a reference during coursework.

The project maintains an active issues section where learners can ask questions encountered during study. Video access is provided through multiple platforms including Youku, YouTube, Bilibili, and AcFun, with cloud storage options via Baidu Netdisk and Google Drive to accommodate different regional access patterns. The project notes that it no longer distributes MKV format videos due to subtitle installation complexity, focusing instead on more accessible formats.
