Counts unlabeled, assigned, unassigned, milestoned, demilestoned, locked, unlocked over the last 12 months. These are issue and pull request events that require triage or write permission. Commits and code review are not counted. labeled and renamed are excluded because GitHub issue forms record the issue author as the actor. Figures from October 11, 2026. This count is not comparable across projects: each project's automation decides which of these events a person emits.

How this project is maintained

Roughly one issue in five opened in the past year never receives a reply. 100% of open issues come from outside the core team, so the backlog reflects real-world use rather than internal planning. Only 40% of issues opened in the past year have been closed. Three people close 79% of everything that gets resolved.

Detailed Description

win-acme is an ACMEv2 client for Windows that automates SSL/TLS certificate provisioning and renewal.

The tool addresses the complexity of managing SSL/TLS certificates on Windows systems by providing both a simple interface for basic scenarios and advanced capabilities for complex deployments. It works by connecting to ACME services to request, validate, and install certificates automatically. The tool handles certificate renewal through scheduled tasks, eliminating manual intervention. It supports wildcard certificates, internationalized domain names, OCSP Must Staple extensions, and allows reuse of private keys for DANE. Validation can be performed via DNS, HTTP, or TLS using multiple providers including SFTP, acme-dns, Azure, Route53, and Cloudflare. Certificates can be stored in various formats and locations including Windows certificate stores, IIS Central Store, PEM files, PFX files, or Azure KeyVault.

The tool suits Windows administrators managing IIS servers who want straightforward certificate automation, as well as organizations with complex requirements involving Exchange, RDS, or other Windows services. It works with all major ACME providers including Let's Encrypt, ZeroSSL, DigiCert, Sectigo, Buypass, and others. For advanced users, the tool offers command-line automation, JSON-based configuration, PowerShell script integration, and the ability to build custom C# plugins.

The project maintains a substantial user base, with almost all open issues coming from external users rather than the core team. Maintainers respond to new issues and pull requests within a day. Work in the issue tracker centers on bug reports, user questions, and enhancement requests.
