Detailed Description

Web Scrobbler is a browser extension that captures music playback from web services and sends it to scrobbling platforms.

The extension solves the problem of fragmented music listening across different web-based services by automatically detecting when music is playing and recording that activity to scrobbling platforms. It works by installing as an extension in your browser and using connectors—service-specific modules—that recognize music playback on supported websites, then forward that information to platforms like Last.fm, Libre.fm, ListenBrainz, Maloja, or Pleroma where users maintain their listening history.

The tool suits anyone who listens to music through web players and wants to maintain a unified scrobbling history across multiple services. It is available across major browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Microsoft Edge, as well as Opera through Chrome Web Store compatibility. The extension can be installed from official browser stores or built and installed from source code. Development of new connectors is documented to allow community contributions for additional music services.
