How this project is maintained

Roughly one issue in three opened in the past year never receives a reply. 100% of open issues come from outside the core team, so the backlog reflects real-world use rather than internal planning. Almost all tracked open issues have seen activity in the last three months. Only 46% of issues opened in the past year have been closed. Three people close 78% of everything that gets resolved.

Detailed Description

Wealthfolio is a personal finance tracker that runs locally on your device to monitor investments, net worth, spending, and financial simulations.

The tool addresses the need for private financial tracking without relying on cloud services or account creation. It stores all data locally on the user's device, eliminating concerns about data being held on external servers. The application provides portfolio tracking capabilities alongside net worth monitoring and spending analysis, with the ability to run financial simulations. For users who want automatic synchronization across devices or brokerage account connections, an optional subscription service called Wealthfolio Connect offers read-only syncing from over thirty financial institutions and encrypted multi-device synchronization, though the core application remains fully functional without it.

Wealthfolio suits individuals who prioritize data privacy and want complete control over their financial information. It works well for anyone managing investment portfolios, tracking net worth over time, or analyzing spending patterns without external dependencies. The tool is available as a desktop application for macOS, Windows, and Linux, with an iOS app also provided. Manual tracking and CSV import remain free features regardless of whether a user adopts the optional subscription service.

The project maintains active development with regular updates and community engagement through Discord and social channels. The codebase is written in Rust and built using Tauri for cross-platform desktop deployment. The tool is distributed through multiple channels including direct downloads, app store releases, and Docker containers for self-hosting scenarios.
